Heidegger’s Greeks

In this article, Glenn W. Most critically analyses Martin Heidegger’s evaluation of the Greeks. For the author, this evaluation is configured over six arguments. The features emphasized by each argument are both different and similar. Most endeavours to show through examples that Heidegger’s understanding and evaluation of Greek philosophy is directly linked to his philosophy. However, he also historically problematises the significance of the various periods Heidegger focuses on. In conclusion, most focuses on the relation of the typologies, examples, etc. that emerge in these texts to the cannot be understood as representing a pure, untouched image of the Greeks but rather within a specific historical context.
