Peer Review Policy

Sofist: An International Journal of Philosophy operates a double-blind peer review process.

All submissions are first evaluated by the editorial team for relevance, originality, and compliance with the journal’s scope and guidelines. Manuscripts that pass this stage are sent to at least two independent reviewers.

Reviewers evaluate submissions based on originality, clarity, argumentative strength, and scholarly contribution.

Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject

In cases of conflicting reports, a third reviewer may be consulted.

The final decision is made by the editors.

The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.

Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations. All review processes are conducted in accordance with principles of confidentiality and academic integrity.

Review Timeline

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening within approximately 1 week.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent for double-blind peer review. The review process typically takes around 3–5 weeks.

Authors can expect to receive a first decision within approximately 4–6 weeks of submission.

The total time from submission to final decision is, on average, 6–8 weeks, depending on the review process and revisions.
